BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana University women's tennis team (9-2) will play their first match as a top-25 team this season on Saturday when the Oregon Ducks (5-4) come to town for an 11 a.m. contest.

Indiana moved up 14 slots to No. 23 in the latest ITA national rankings after defeating both Kentucky and No. 10 Tennessee last weekend.

This weekend it will be just one match for the Hoosiers, however. Live updates of Indiana's last non-conference home match will be available right here at IUHoosiers.com.

Freshman Julia Metzger is Oregon's top singles player, ranked No. 96 nationally. The Ducks also have a doubles team in the ITA national rankings. The duo of Pavlina Smatova and Emmanuelle Cor are slotted 45th in the country.

As a team, Oregon has dropped three straight matches heading into the weekend and will play Purdue Friday night before coming to Bloomington. The Ducks have been ranked as high as No. 71 this season, but fell out of the top-75 rankings this week.

One week after taking out a top-10 foe in Tennessee, the Hoosiers will get two chances to pull off a similar feat next weekend when they head to South Bend, Ind., on Friday (Mar. 5) for a dual match with the No. 7 Fighting Irish of Notre Dame and host No. 2 Northwestern on Sunday at 11 a.m. Live match updates for both matches will be available.

Leslie Hureau was named the Big Ten Athlete of the Week for women's tennis on Tuesday (Feb. 23). She posted a 4-0 mark last week, leading the Hoosiers to a pair of wins over traditional national women's tennis powers, No. 10 Tennessee and Kentucky.

The conference office has given six weekly awards thus far during the 2010 spring season with Indiana the lone school to receive multiple laurels. Evgeniya Vertesheva was named the Big Ten Athlete of the Week back on Jan. 26.

The Hoosiers firmly placed their name on the national radar last weekend, picking up wins over Kentucky and Tennessee.

Indiana not only defeated No. 10 Tennessee, but did so in very impressive fashion; dropping just one team point in a 6-1 victory over the Lady Vols.

Lindsey Stuckey and Evgeniya Vertesheva got the ball rolling by taking out Rosalia Alda and Zsofia Zubor, the 20th-ranked doubles team in the country.

Leslie Hureau notched a win over a nationally-ranked opponent as well, defeating No. 38 Maria Sorbello in straight sets, 6-3, 7-5.
