    Hoosiers overpower Hawkeyes

Bloomington, IN--Indiana's women's tennis team got back on track today, breezing by Iowa 6-1 to improve to 7-4 on the season. The win also put the Hoosiers back at .500 in the Big Ten after a league opening loss to Minnesota on Saturday.

Correne Stout stole the show for the Hoosiers yet again, earning her 19th win of the season in singles. She defeated Natalia Dawaf in straight sets, 6-2,6-1, at number one to improve to 6-3 at that spot in dual match action. Freshman Kelly Blanch also continued to play well for the Hoosiers, winning 6-1,6-2 at number two to up her mark to 12-2 since joining the team in January. Zahra Ahamed also earned a victroy for the Hoosiers at the three spot as did Jessica Anderson at number four. Junior Candice Donahoe, playing in her third dual match of the season, won a tough match at number 6, 1-6,6-0,7-6(8-6), to up her mark to 2-1.

In doubles the Hoosiers took two of three matches to earn the lone doubles point. Blanch and Stout notched their 10th win of the season, knocking off Erin Wolverton and Megan Kearney 8-2. The number three team of Ahamed and Ana Ceretto also notched a solid win, defeating Dawaf and Carolina Delgado 8-3

"We competed well today and won the close matches," said head coach Lin Loring. "I was pleased with our effort both days. Yesterday we just couldnUt win the close matches, but we did today. It was a great weekend for Correne Stout. Last year she lost to both of her opponents (Dawaf and Suaska) but she played well and beat them both this weekend."

The Hoosiers return to action on the 20th when they head to Las Vegas for a showdown with UNLV. They will then continue their road trip the following week as they head to Michigan for a pair of Big Ten matches. Indiana will square off against the Wolverines on the 28th before heading to East Lansing for a battle with Michigan State.
