    Hoosiers Look To End Losing Streak Against Purdue

    On Tap: The Hoosiers (5-5) will try and snap their four-match losing streak on Saturday when they travel to West Lafayette, Inidna to face Purdue. Last year, the Hoosiers finished with a 2-1 record against Purdue. They lost to them at home in the regular season 5-2. They then defeated Purdue 4-3 in the third-round of the Big Ten Championships. In the NCAA Midwest Regional, the Hoosiers once again defeated Purdue 5-3

    Last Match: The Hoosiers dropped their fourth straight match, as they fell to #56-ranked North Carolina 7-2on Sunday. The women playing with three new doubles teams took two out of the three matches. Kelly Blanch and Jessica Anderson defeated Cena Hackler and Jessica Zaganczyk 8-4, while Zahra Ahamed and Ana Ceretto won 8-3 over Caroline Hill and Courtney Zalinski. The Hoosiers, however, were unable to win any of the singles matches in route to the loss.

    Junior Play: Without a senior on the team this year, the Hoosiers have relied on leadership from their three juniors; Zahra Ahamed, Jessica Anderson and Becky Wallihan. So far, they have come through accumulating a overall record of 30-20 in singles and 41-16 in doubles. Anderson leads the team in singles with an 18-7 overall record (5-4 in dual). Anderson is also the team leader with a 20-6 doubles record (8-2 in dual). Ahamed has bounced back from a tough start to the year, posting a 6-4 record in dual matches (12-11 overall) and a 8-1 dual doubles record (17-7 overall). Becky Wallihan, injured for the fall season, has been a strong doubles player at the No. 1 position posting a 5-3 record.

    Potpourri: The Hoosiers now have seven of their nine players with 10 or more wins in singles...Freshman Amanda Field is now 12-8 in singles for the year......Ana Ceretto has posted a win in 10 of her last 13 matches, and has a 17-7 overall record...Wallihan has bounced back from offseason shoulder surgery to post a 5-3 doubles mark, along with Kelly Blanch. They have defeated a top ten team with a win over Marquette's Ana Fernandez and Elisa Penalvo.

    Head Coach Lin Loring...is entering his 22nd season as the Head Coach of the Hoosiers Women's Tennis team. In his 21 seasons, he has compiled a remarkable overall record of 526-135, while accumulating a 252-24 record against Big Ten opponents. The 4 time Big Ten Coach-of-the-Year and the 2 time National Coach-of -the-Year, has compiled a 568-152 overall record in his 26-year coaching career. Prior to Indiana, coach Loring had a 4 year stint as head coach at UC-Santa Barbara.

    On The Horizon: The Hoosiers will spend their spring break in SOuth Florida as they travel down to Tampa for a match against South Florida on March 19.
