    Hoosiers Fall To No. 14 Northwestern 5-2

    Evanston, Ill. - The women's tennis team fell to 14th-ranked Northwestern 5-2 today. The loss dropped the Hoosiers record to 10-3 and 3-1 in the Big Ten. The Wildcats are now 13-2 overall and 3-0 in the Big Ten.

    The Hoosiers opened the match by losing the doubles point. The Hoosiers picked up a win at the No. 2 position as Amanda Field and Jennifer Hsia defeated Lia Jackson and Marine Piriou 8-3. Indiana was unable to win the doubles matches at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions.

    In singles, the Hoosiers won two of the six matches. At No. 1, Jessica Anderson defeated Katherine Nasser 6-4,7-6. Field, playing at the No. 5 position, defeated Piriou in a three-set match 4-6,6-4,6-4. Indiana lost two other matches in a third-set. At No. 2, Kelly Blanch lost to Shannon Duffy 4-6,6-4,7-6. At No. 4, Jessica Levin was defeated by Lia Jackson 2-6,7-5,6-2.

    The Hoosiers will return to Big Ten play tomorrow as the team will face Illinois in Champaign, Illinois at 11:00 a.m.
