    BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - No. 36 Indiana (9-7, 3-0 Big Ten) will continue Big Ten play this weekend with a pair of matches against No. 2 Northwestern (13-2, 3-0) and No. 35 Wisconsin (9-4, 2-1). The Hoosiers will face the Wildcats at 4 p.m. on Friday, April 1, and the Badgers at 10 a.m. on Sunday, April 3. Weather permitting; the matches will be played at the IU Varsity Tennis Courts.

    Scouting The Opponents:

    No. 2 Northwestern (13-2, 3-0 Big Ten) is coming off a weekend sweep, March 26-27, of conference foes then-No. 39 Michigan (5-2) and then-No. 75 Michigan State (6-1). The Wildcats have won 10 of their last 11 matches with their lone loss coming to then-No. 24 California, 4-2, on March 23.

    Northwestern has three players and one doubles team ranked by the ITA. Freshman Audra Cohen is third in the country, while junior Cristelle Grier and sophomore Alexis Prousis stand at 13th and 64th, respectively. Prousis and senior Kristi Roemer rest 29th in the nation among doubles teams.

    Cohen has posted an overall mark of 35-4 on the year, while Grier is 26-6 overall and has a team-best dual mark of 13-2. Prousis and Roemer are 10-3 at the No. 2 position this year.

    Claire Pollard is in her seventh season as the head coach at Northwestern.

    No. 35 Wisconsin (10-4, 2-1) defeated No. 28 Notre Dame (4-3) yesterday, and will play at Penn State (April 1) before traveling to Bloomington. The Badgers picked up a pair of Big Ten wins against then-No. 39 Michigan (4-3) and then-No. 75 Michigan State (5-2) on March 26 and 27, respectively.

    Senior Katie McGaffigan, sister of IU sophomore Laura, and sophomore Caitlin Burke are both ranked nationally by the ITA at 93rd and 100th, respectively. Burke has a team-high 18 wins on the year for the Badgers. Freshman Chelsea Nusslock also has played well for UW this spring. She was named the Big Ten Women's Tennis Player of the Week on Feb. 17.

    Patti Henderson is in her 10th year as the head coach of the women's tennis program.

    Northwestern defeated Wisconsin, 5-2, on Feb. 13 in the Big Ten opener for both teams.

    A Glance Into The Past:

    Northwestern defeated Indiana, 6-1, in the last meeting between the two teams on March 28, 2004. The Wildcats claimed the doubles point, winning two of three matches, and posted wins in five of the six singles contests on the way to their win.

    Northwestern has won seven straight matches against the Hoosiers. The last time IU upended Northwestern was April 13, 1997, a 5-2 outcome.

    The Cream and Crimson defeated Wisconsin, 5-2, on March 27 in their Big Ten opener a year ago. IU garnered the doubles point and got singles wins from current Hoosiers Dora Vastag, Sarah Batty and Laura McGaffigan, along with 2004 graduate Karie Schlukebir en route to the win.

    IU has won six of the last eight contests with the Badgers.
