IU Women's Tennis Honored by President McRobbie for Herbert Cup
April 2, 2014
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana women's tennis team continues to excel in the classroom and once again earned the Herbert Cup for the 2013 fall semester. The award is given out each semester to the Hoosier athletic program with the highest GPA for that particular semester.
The IU women's tennis program has won the cup in 11 of the 13 semesters in which the award has been given. For the fall semester only, the team finished with an impressive collective GPA of 3.7577.
On March 26 Indiana University president Michael A. McRobbie and first lady Laurie McRobbie honored the team in the Federal Room at the Indiana Memorial Union (IMU). The President and First Lady hosted the women's tennis team for a celebratory dinner that evening.
"The team was very excited to once again win the Herbert Cup," said head coach Lin Loring. "It is always an honor to be recognized by President McRobbie and the First Lady. These ladies work hard on the court, but also take great pride in their work in the classroom."
