Hoosiers Take the Road Again for Matches at Iowa and No. 13 Nebraska
April 4, 2013
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana women's tennis hits the road for a pair of Big Ten matches at Iowa and at No. 13 Nebraska this weekend. The Hoosiers and Hawkeyes will square off on Friday, April 5, at 4:30 p.m. ET. IU will then take on the Cornhuskers on Sunday, April 7, at Noon ET.
The Hoosiers head into the weekend ranked 32nd nationally, the team's highest ranking so far this season. Last weekend, IU topped Michigan State and No. 10 Michigan on the road and hopes to keep that momentum going.
Iowa sits at 8-8 on the season and have a 1-4 mark in Big Ten play. The Hawkeyes are led by Ruth Seaborne in singles as she ranks 85th nationally in singles. In doubles, Seaborne teams with Morven McCulloch and they sit at No. 34 in the ITA National Doubles Rankings.
No. 13 Nebraska is a perfect 5-0 in conference play heading into the weekend and hold a 16-3 mark for the entire spring. The Husker roster features one player ranked nationally in singles in Mary Weatherhold at No. 13. Weatherholt and Patricia Veresova combined to rank 11th in the country in doubles.
Despite dropping the first road Big Ten match of the season, the Hoosiers have won two-straight away from Bloomington and hopes that continues heading into this weekend.
IU's matchup with Nebraska will mark the first time that the two schools have met for a conference match in Lincoln, Neb. The two schools met last year in Bloomington as the Huskers began their first season as part of the Big Ten.
