ON TAP...The women's tennis team travels to Notre Dame for a match tomorrow at 3 p.m. Last year, the Fighting Irish defeated the Hoosiers 6-2 in Bloomington. Indiana holds the all-time series lead over Notre Dame 10-4.
SCOUTING NOTRE DAME...The Fighting Irish come into this match with a 17-5 record. Last week, Notre Dame picked up three wins against nationally ranked opponents. The Fighting Irish defeated #58 Wisconsin 9-0, #57 Purdue 9-0 and #16 William & Mary 6-3. Notre Dame is led by 16th-ranked Michelle Dasso in singles and the 24th-ranked doubles team of Dasso and Becky Varnum.
HOOSIERS END LOSING STREAK...The women's tennis team ended its five-match winless streak with a pair of Big Ten victories last weekend. On Saturday, the Hoosiers picked up a win after Michigan State decided to cancel the match due to injuries. On Sunday, the Hoosiers won a close match against Michigan 4-3.
THIS WEEKENDS MATCHES...The women's tennis team travels east this weekend for Big Ten matches against Penn State and Ohio State. Both matches will begin at 10 a.m. Full previews for these matches will be sent out on Wednesday.
IN THE RANKINGS...The women's tennis team fell seven spots in the rankings this week to 51st...the Hoosiers are ranked 7th in the Midwest Region...Senior Jessica Anderson and Junior Kelly Blanch are ranked 31st nationally in doubles. They are also ranked 8th in the region...Blanch is ranked #20 in the Midwest Region, while Anderson is ranked 8th.
AGAINST RANKED OPPONENTS...Indiana has faced a ranked opponent in twelve
matches this season and has posted a record of 6-7 with the wins coming
in matches against #32 Iowa, #44 Maryland, #36 Marquette, #49 Wisconsin,
#51 Purdue and #53 Michigan. The loses have come against #11 Duke, #14 Northwestern,
#18 Tennessee, #30 Kentucky, #49 Georgia Tech, #50 North Carolina and #67
