    Hoosiers Defeat Michigan State 5-2

    East Lansing, MI-The #65 Hoosiers (9-9, 4-2 Big Ten) won their second straight match by defeating Michigan State today 5-2.

    The Hoosiers jumped out to an early 1-0 lead by sweeping all three doubles matches. At No. 1, Kellly Blanch and Becky Wallihan defeated Jaime Tannenbaum and Isabell Oelze 8-5. At No. 2, Zahra Ahamed and Ana Ceretto were victorious over Brooke West and Kelli Hayes 8-2. Jessica Anderson and Amanda Field won their match over Brooke Townsend and Nila Skogerboe 6-0,6-0.

    The Hoosiers kept the momentum for picking up the doubles point by taking four out of the six singles matches. At No. 1, Anderson got by West 6-3,6-4. Ahamed, playing at the No. 3 position today, defeated Skogerboe 6-0,6-0. Field was victorious over Hayes 6-2,6-3, at No. 4. Jennifer Hsia, playing in her first singles match of the Big Ten season defeated Tannenbaum 6-4,2-6,6-4, at No. 6.

    The Hoosiers will be at home for three matches next week. On Thursday, they will host Notre Dame at 3 p.m. On Saturday, Illinois makes the trip to Bloomington for a 11 a.m. match. Then on Sunday they will face Northwestern at 10 a.m.
