Columbus, Ohio - The women's tennis team lost to 25th-ranked Ohio State 5-2 today. With the loss the Hoosiers (13-9) are now 6-3 in the Big Ten, while the Buckeyes (14-6) improve to 7-1 in the Big Ten.
The 47th-ranked Hoosiers took an early 1-0 advantage by winning two of the three doubles matches. At No. 2, Jessica Levin and Becky Wallihan were victorious in their match against Laura Maloney and Sadhaf Pervez 8-6. Amanda Field and Jennifer Hsia, playing at No. 3, won their match against Michelle Matko and Claudia Castro 8-3. At No. 1, 32nd-ranked Jessica Anderson and Kelly Blanch lost to 43rd-ranked Kristy Dascoli and Monica Rincin 8-3.
In singles, the Hoosiers lost four of the six matches. Zahra Ahamed continued her strong play with a victory over Maloney 6-3,6-0 at No. 5. Hsia, playing at No. 6, was victorious over Taryn Bowen 6-1,6-2.
The Hoosiers will conclude their Big Ten regular season with
a home match against Minnesota on Saturday at 10 a.m.
