Women's Tennis Concludes Regular Season This Weekend
April 18, 2008
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The #29 Indiana University women's tennis team enters the weekend with a record of 18-5 overall and 7-1 in the conference, slotting them in a tie with #23 Michigan for second place in the Big Ten Standings. Indiana gets their shot at the Wolverines on Sunday, but first make the long trip to University Park, Pa. and a match with the Nittany Lions of Penn State.
"We definitely want to win against Penn State because that keeps our record clean for NCAA selection," said Head Coach Lin Loring.
The Hoosiers defeated Penn State last season by a score of 6-1 in Bloomington. Against Michigan a season ago, the series was split one match apiece. Michigan avenged a 5-2 regular season loss by eliminating the Cream and Crimson from the Big Ten Tournament in the second round.

"Just like last year our match with Michigan will determine the number seed at the Big Ten Championships," said Loring. "They are ranked ahead of us and are a very hot team right now. It is the exact same situation as last year and we pulled off a big upset. They will be tough since they are playing at home but we are excited about the challenge."
The Big Ten Tournament is scheduled to begin next Thursday up in West Lafayette as Purdue plays host to the competition. Indiana has already clinched a first-round bye and won't play until Friday, April 25.
