Indiana Opens Big Ten Tournament Play vs. Penn State

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - No. 48 Indiana is the seventh seed in this week's Big Ten Women's Tennis Tournament which begins Thursday. This year's tourney is hosted by Northwestern in Evanston, Ill. and will take place April 24-27. The Hoosiers will take on 10th-seeded Penn State at 3 p.m. ET on Thursday in the opening round.
All 12 Big Ten teams participate in the Big Ten Tournament and play begins each day at 11 a.m., except for the championship, which will begin at 1 p.m. on Sunday, April 27.
Indiana (18-8, 6-5) and Penn State (6-17, 2-9) met on April 13 in University Park, Pa. during the regular season and the Hoosiers topped the Nittany Lions in that matchup, 6-1. IU swept the doubles matches in that win and Sophie Garre, Carolyn Chupa, Alecia Kauss, Paula Gutierrez and Gabrielle Rubenstein all were victorious in their singles matches over PSU opponents.
The winner of the IU-PSU matchup will take on tournament host and No. 2 seed Northwestern on Friday at 3 p.m. The top four seeds in the tournament earned byes into the second round.
