BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana women's tennis team will be the second seed for the 2005 Big Ten Championship, April 28 - May 1, at the MSU Tennis Center in East Lansing, Mich. The Hoosiers will face the winner of the No. 10 Michigan State versus No. 7 Michigan first-round match on Friday, April 29, at 2:00 p.m. (EDT).

IU defeated both U-M and MSU last weekend, April 22 and 24, in Bloomington. The Cream and Crimson bested Michigan, 4-3, in a tightly-contested affair Friday, and upended the Spartans, 6-1, Sunday.

Versus Michigan, Indiana claimed the doubles point, as the two squads split the singles matches, en route to the win. Senior Dominika Walterova and junior Sarah Batty bested the 26th-ranked doubles team in the nation to secure the tandem point for IU. Batty, along with sophomores Laura McGaffigan and Cecile Perton notched singles conquests for IU.

Against the Spartans, the Cream and Crimson claimed all three doubles matches and corralled five of six singles contests on its way to the win.

Northwestern, who finished league play with a perfect 10-0 mark, will be the top seed at this weekend's championship.
