    Hoosiers Go For Second Straight Big Ten Title

    On Tap...The Hoosiers will take part in the Big Ten Championships this weekend in East Lansing, Michigan. The Hoosiers, who have struggled lately will try and rebound to win their second consecutive Big Ten Championship. The women, ranked 7th in the tournament, will open up on Thursday against Michigan State at 2 p.m. The Hoosiers defeated the Spartans in the regular season 5-2. Indiana took the doubles point and four out of the six singles matches.

    Weekend Losses...The Hoosiers fell to the 7th-seed in the Big Ten Championships with two losses last weekend. Finishing the season on the road, the women dropped matches to Iowa and Wisconsin. On Saturday, they fell to Iowa 4-3. After winning the doubles point, the Hoosiers fell in four of the six singles matches. On Sunday, the Hoosiers dropped a 5-2 decision to Wisconsin.

    Repeat Performance...The Hoosiers will be looking for a repeat performance is this year's Big Ten Championships. The Hoosiers ended the regular season last year with a 6-4 record and 6th-seed in the Championships. The women, however, were able to bounce back and win their 15th Big Ten Championship since 1980.

    Finding Number One...The No. 1 singles position has been a trouble spot for the Hoosiers all year long. They seem to have found the answer to this problem since junior Jessica Anderson's move up to the top spot. Since the move Anderson is 7-5 at No. 1. Overall on the season, she leads the team with a 27-11 record, while going 7-3 in the Big Ten.

    Strong At Three...Junior Zahra Ahamed was the only Hoosiers last weekend to win all her singles and doubles matches. She ended the season on three match winning streaks in both. Her singles record for the year was 19-18 (5-5 Big Ten), while going 25-11 (8-2 Big Ten) in doubles.

    Fabulous Freshman...Amanda Field has been impressive this year as a freshman. She ended the season with a 18-15 singles record, while 6-4 in the Big Ten. In doubles, she played at the No. 3 position this year and ended with a 24-12 record, while going 5-4 in the Big Ten.

    Sophomore Starteres...Ana Ceretto and Jennifer Hsia have both now cracked the starting lineup as sophomore. Ceretto is currently the No. 5 singles player ending the regular season with a 22-15 record and a 6-4 Big Ten record. Hsia is now playing singles and doubles. In the Big Ten, she is 1-2 in singles and 3-0 in doubles.

    Coach Lin Loring...is currently in his 22nd season as the Head Coach of the Hoosiers women's tennis team. In his 22 season's he has compiled a remarkable overall record of 530-142, while accumulating a 257-28 record against Big Ten opponents. The four-time Big Ten Coach -of the-Year and two-time National Coach-of-the -Year, has compiled an 572-159 overall record in his 26 year coaching career. Prior to Indiana, coach Loring spent four-years as the Head Coach of UC-Santa Barbara.
