May 8, 2008
EVANSTON, Ill. - The Indiana University women's tennis team arrived in the Evanston area Wednesday night to begin their 2008 trip to the NCAA Regionals, hosted by Northwestern University.
#30 Indiana (20-7, 8-2 Big Ten) drew the #39 Louisville Cardinals (16-7, 5-2 Big East) in the first round. That match is scheduled for Friday at 11 a.m. eastern time. Click here for live scoring of the event.
The Hoosiers began Thursday with a team breakfast at 8:30 a.m. that included hot items such as scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, oatmeal, as well as bagels, fruit and other assorted continental options. There were even "the best waffles we've had all year," according to athletic trainer Ben Henry.
Several minutes later the travel party hopped in the luxury bus for a late morning/early afternoon practice at the Vandy Christie Tennis Center, where the NCAA Regionals will be held. Following practice, several members of the team rested while others made a short trip to the local mall.
The night concluded with a 6 p.m. banquet held inside Northwestern's indoor tennis facility.
If the Hoosiers are to advance, they would play the winner of the #1 Northwestern (23-1, 10-0 Big Ten) vs. Illinois-Chicago (16-5, 10-0 Horizon) match. The second round match is set for Saturday, May 10 at 1 p.m. eastern time.
