    Hureau Tops Boren, NCAA Second Round Match Set for Friday

    BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana's Leslie Hureau, ranked No. 63 nationally, outlasted Tennessee's No. 45 Brynn Boren in a three set match in the opening round of the NCAA Women's Tennis Singles Championship. The match went early into the Thursday morning hours Eastern Time due to weather delays, but Hureau was triumphant and will play again this afternoon (May 26).

    Boren took the first set over Hureau, 6-3. The Hoosier sophomore bounced back in the second set, 6-2, to even the match. Hureau then found herself in a hole in the third set, trailing 5-3. She worked her way back, winning three of the next four games to tie the set at 6-6 to force a tiebreaker. In an exciting finish, Hureau won the tiebreaker by a 7-5 margin to earn a spot in the round of 32.

    This is Hureau's first career win in NCAA Singles Championship action. She will take on No. 33 Anouk Tigu of Arkansas on Friday. Hureau and Tigu will play each other at 3 p.m. ET/Noon PT. Tigu won her first round match in straight sets over No. 50 Petra Niedemayerova of Kansas State, 6-4, 6-4.
