BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Four Hoosiers are set to compete in week four action of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Collegiate Summer Circuit Midwest Regional on their home courts at Indiana University. Play begins Saturday, July 30 and runs through Aug. 2 at the Varsity Tennis Center on the campus of IU. Matches start at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday and continue throughout the day until 8 p.m.

Rising senior Sarah Batty, rising sophomores Nikki Hein and Pam Gesellchen and incoming freshman Stephanie Heller (Northbrook, Ill./Glenn Brook North High School) are slated to take part in the tournament with the hopes of preparing for the ITA National Summer Championships in August.

"We are excited to host this stop on the college summer circuit," IU coach Lin Loring, the tournament's national director said. "Both tournaments will feature some of our program's returning players and new players."

As expected, Batty will be a top competitor at the tournament. Batty, who earned All-Big Ten honors last year and finished ranked 118th in the nation among all singles players, will open her day with Lindsey Berry from Akron at 8:30 a.m.

Hein and Gesellchen also are slated for week four of the Midwest Regional action. Hein squares off against Rachel Janssen from Valparaiso at 8:30 a.m. Gesellchen takes the court at 10:00 a.m. to face Abby Showalter from Cleveland State.

The final Hoosier competitor is Heller. Heller, who will be one of four incoming freshmen this fall, will play Lindsay Sellers from Cleveland State at 8:30 a.m. in the first round of action.

The winners of the Midwest Regional will advance to the ITA National Summer Championship, held at Indiana Aug. 13-16. This is the fifth consecutive year IU has hosted the National Summer Championship. From there, the winners earn wild card bids into the first national tournaments of the season, the ITA Men and Women's All-American Championships.
