Kalamazoo, Mich. - Getting its first taste of the fall tournament season, the Indiana women's tennis team struggled at the Bronco Invitational hosted by Western Michigan University on Friday.
Competing without their two premier players in Karie Schlukebir and Linda Tran, the Hoosiers found wins relatively hard to come by.
The Indiana singles lineup dropped all five of its matches, with Sarah Batty being the only Hoosier to not fall in straight sets, as Western Michigan swept singles play in the "hidden dual" format of the tournament.
Doubles action pitted Indiana Marquette and Ball State, with the Hoosiers getting their lone victory from Batty and Dominika Walterova. The duo defeated Ball State's Melissa Roach and Jill Weiman, 9-7 in the number one position.
The Hoosiers return to action tomorrow in day two of action at the Bronco Invitational.
