BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana women's tennis team is ready and primed for the 2013-14 season as the fall schedule kicks off this weekend in Bloomington with the Hoosier Classic on Sept. 27-29. IU will welcome Cincinnati, Eastern Michigan, Kansas State and Western Michigan to the IU Varsity Courts for the annual fall tournament.

Indiana is coming off a season which saw the team earn an NCAA Tournament berth for the first time in three years and have its most wins (18) since the 2007-08 campaign. Two Hoosiers earned first team All-Big Ten honors in Leslie Hureau and Katie Klyczek. Hureau graduated in May and was the seventh player in program history to earn first team all-conference honors in all four seasons playing at IU.

The Hoosiers return seven players from last year's roster, five of which were integral parts of the starting lineup during the dual schedule in 2012-13. Senior Sophie Garre returns as the most experienced player with three years under her belt. Her classmate, Kayla Fujimoto, also returns this season after sitting out last year due to injury. Gabrielle Rubenstein, who transferred into IU last fall, will also be back.

The junior class consists of Carolyn Chupa, Alecia Kauss, Klyczek and Shannon Murdy, all of which played major roles in helping Indiana earn an NCAA berth last spring.

Rounding out the roster, IU welcomes three new faces to Bloomington. Paula Gutierrez (Alhaurin de la Torre, Spain), Mary Beth King (Naperville, Ill.) and Kim Schmider (Cheshire, England) will all make their Hoosier debuts this weekend.

Head Coach Lin Loring will also look to add another milestone to his illustrious coaching career this season as he sits at 796 victories as a head coach. Loring already has the most coaching wins in women's college tennis history by a large margin and now just sits four dual wins away from 800. Loring is entering his 37th season at the helm of the Indiana program.

Complete draws will be posted on IUHoosiers.com when they become available.
