Indiana to Host Hoosier Classic

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana University women's tennis team will be hosting the Hoosier Classic from Friday, Oct. 6, through Sunday, Oct. 8, at the Varsity Tennis Center.
In addition to the Hoosiers, seven teams will convene upon Bloomington for the Classic. Players from LSU, Murray State, Mississippi State, Georgia, Kansas, Kansas State and Notre Dame will be participating.
"We're excited to have such a good representation of teams from across the country," head coach Lin Loring said. "We've got good representation from the Southeastern and Big 12 conferences, and that should make for a really competitive tournament."
The first matches begin at 10:30 a.m. and noon, with the second rounds being played at 1:30 and 3:30. The doubles draw will be released on Oct. 6 for action on Saturday, Oct. 7. All games will be held at the outdoor courts, weather permitting.
Indiana is coming off a good weekend at the Deacon Classic at Wake Forest University. Senior Laura McGaffigan, junior Brianna Williams and sophomore Stephanie Heller each had three singles wins during the tournament.
McGaffigan faces Anna Lask of Murray State in her first match on Friday, while Williams will play Viviana Yrureta of Kansas State in flight `A' singles.
Flight `C' sees freshman Lindsey Stuckey against Katerina Kudlackoua of Kansas State. Heller and sophomore Alba Berdala will compete in flight `D' for Indiana. Heller faces Angela McGahee of Murray State in the first game, while Berdala sees Mississippi State's DeAndra Saddler.
Freshman Erin Clark will participate in a set of round robin matches. She faces Natasha Vieira of Kansas State in her first contest.
