    WOMEN'S TENNIS HOSTS HOOSIER CLASSIC INVITATIONAL

    On Tap...After a two week break, the Hoosiers continue their season this weekend as they host the Hoosier Classic Invitational from Friday to Sunday. The tournament will include players from Bowling Green State, Kansas State, Middle Tennessee State and Ohio Sate competing in five singles and two doubles flights. Play will begin Friday and Saturday at 10 a.m. with doubles and on Sunday will begin on Sunday at 10 am with singles. The complete schedule for this weekends tournament is included in the release.

    Previous Tournament...The Hoosiers began their season the weekend of September 24-26 with the Indiana Fall Invitational. The team was successful, as they picked up four out of the eight singles flights. Winning flights were Jessica Anderson (Flight 1), Kelly Blanch (Flight 3), Jennifer Hsia (Flight 5) and Karie Schlukebir (Flight 6). Jessica "J.J." Levin made a strong debut, as she picked up two wins before losing in the finals. Becky Wallihan, also went 2-1 on the weekend finishing in third-place. In doubles, the teams of Anderson/Wallihan and Levin/Poosuthasee both finished 3-1. Levin and Poosuthasee placed second (Flight 2), while Anderson and Wallihan placed third (Flight 1).

    Scouting Report...The Hoosiers return all eight players from last year's team, including freshman Karie Schlukebir who redshirted due to illness last year and welcome Jessica "J.J." Levin into the mix. The Hoosiers will be once again led by the senior combination of Jessica Anderson and Zahra Ahamed. Sophomore Amanda Field had an excellent summer on the ITA Summer Circuit and will be a key for the Hoosiers season.

    Recapping Last Year...The Hoosiers finished last season with a 10-15 record, while going 5-7 in the Big Ten. The Hoosiers' Jessica Anderson led the team in singles and doubles victories, finishing with a 28-11 record in both. Zahra Ahamed and Amanda Field both provided 20-win seasons in both singles and doubles.

    Head Coach Lin Loring...is entering his 23rd season as the Head Coach of the Hoosiers women's tennis team. In his 22 season's he has compiled a remarkable overall record of 531-145, while accumulating a 257-30 record against Big Ten opponents. The four-time Big Ten Coach -of the-Year and two-time National Coach-of-the -Year, has compiled an 573-162 overall record in his 26 year coaching career. Prior to Indiana, coach Loring spent four-years as the Head Coach of UC-Santa Barbara.
