BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana women's tennis team earned the Adam Herbert cup for the 2011 spring semester. The team was honored for the accomplishment by IU Vice President and Director of Athletics Fred Glass at the Oct. 8 football game.

The Herbert Cup is given each semester to the IU athletic program with the highest GPA for that semester. The Hoosier women's tennis program has won the cup in seven of the eight semesters in which the award has been given. For the spring semester, the team had an outstanding collective GPA of 3.4545.

"We are excited to bring the Herbert Cup back to women's tennis," head coach Lin Loring said. "I think it speaks volumes about our program to have won it seven out of the last eight semesters. It has become a team tradition. We don't actually talk about it during the semester, but the players take a lot of pride in winning it and always look forward to the team GPA report at the end of the semester."
