    Bloomington, IN--The Hoosiers completed day two of the Hoosier Classic Invitational today by picking up one and tying one singles flights. Becky Wallihan won at the Round Robin "A" Flight and Jessica Anderson and Kelly Blanch both reached the finals of Singles Flight 1, but did not play their match.

    In Flight 1, Anderson defeated Katja Kuehner of Middle Tennessee State 6-2,7-5 and Blanch defeated Monica Rincon of Ohio State 6-3,7-6.

    In Flight 2, J.J. Levin dropped her opening match to Sadhaf Pervez 6-2,6-4., before she picked up a three-set win over Bowling Green's Deidre Bissinger 3-6,6-4,6-3. Ann Poosuthasee dropped both of her matches on the day. She opened with a loss to Alena Jecminkova 6-1,6-3, before losing to Kansas State's Anna Pampoulova 6-1,6-2.

    In Flight 3, Amanda Field defeated Michela Gridling of Middle Tennessee State 6-2,6-3 to reach the finals. She lost their to Ohio State's Claudia Castro 6-4,6-1. Jennifer Hsia picked up two wins to win the back draw. She open with a win over Kathy Chuda 6-1,6-3, both defeating Laura Maloney of Ohio State 6-2,6-2.

    In Round Robin "A", Wallihan picked up two wins to win the flight. She started the day with a win over Laurie Ferguson of Middle Tennessee State 6-0,6-1, and then finished the day off with a win over Taryn Bowen of Ohio State 6-0,6-3.

    In Round Robin "B", Karie Schlukebir lost two matches on the day. She lost to Middle Tennessee State's Niger Kaur 7-6,6-2, before retiring in her match to Kansas State's Vesselina Jeliazkova 7-5,3-6,ret.

    Head Coach Lin Loring said, "We have been improving every day of competition this semester. I am looking for some improvement tomorrow in doubles. So far, I have been pleased with the steady improvement the team has shown."

    The Hoosier Classic Invitational will conclude tomorrow with rounds 3 and 4 of doubles. Play will begin at 10 a.m. and will be played either on the IU Varsity Courts or the Indoor Courts depending on the weather.
