    BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Freshmen Lindsey Stuckey and Erin Clark each reached the round of 16 in the singles qualifier at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Midwest Regional, hosted by Michigan State.

    "Lindsay and Erin both played very well today," head coach Lin Loring said. "They are both playing to advance to the main draw, and we are very pleased that they both played well today."

    The top eight finishers move on to the ITA main singles draw, which begins on Saturday, Oct. 21.

    Stuckey defeated Tanya Gombera of Akron 6-0, 6-0 in her first match before downing Ohio State's Julie Voss, 7-6 (7-4) 6-4. She will play Marquette's Lauren Little in her first match on Friday.

    Clark began the tournament with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Lubica Nadasska of Illinois-Chicago. She reached the round of 16 with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Minnesota's Alex Seaton. Clark faces Angela DiPastina of Ohio State in her next match.

    Sophomore Stephanie Heller notched a win in her second match of the day. She lost to Wisconsin's Morgan Tuttle in a tough three-set match, 2-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7), before easily defeating Catherina Bestehorn of Eastern Michigan, 6-1, 6-1 in the consolation round.

    Competition continues tomorrow with the singles qualifier and the first two rounds of the main doubles draw. Complete results will be posted on IUHOOSIERS.com at the end of each day.
