Women's Tennis Continues Herbert Cup Stronghold
Oct. 19, 2010
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana University women's tennis team has won the Adam Herbert Cup award for six consecutive semesters. The Hebert Cup is given to the IU athletic program with the highest team GPA.
"We are extremely proud of the team and the effort they put into their academics," said Head Coach Lin Loring. "All of the IU coaches stress academics with their teams and we have many teams with high GPA's. So to win this award six semesters in a row is a really great accomplishment."
The Hoosiers compiled an overall team GPA of over 3.50 once again during the spring semester. In spring of 2010, five women's tennis players earned Academic All-Big Ten honors.
"The women's tennis team had another outstanding performance in the fall," said Assistant Athletic Director of Academic and Student Development Kelly Noonan after the program's fifth Herbert Cup. "Their commitment to the classroom is consistently reflected in IU, Big Ten and NCAA academic accolades. The ladies of the team pursue rewarding degree paths and challenge themselves through their coursework, internships and involvement on campus. We are extremely proud of their accomplishments and representation of Indiana University."
