Solid Start Continues for IU at KU Invitational

LAWRENCE, Kan. - Day two of the KU Invitational was much the same for IU Women's Tennis, as the Hoosiers posted a 4-2 day in singles action just as they had in the opening round. In addition, Evgeniya Vertesheva and Kayla Fujimoto tallied another doubles victory on Saturday, their third of the weekend.
Sophomore Leslie Hureau and freshman Sophie Garre have each advanced to the their respective singles flight championship matches. Hureau has done so with back-to-back straight-set triumphs while Garre has out-lasted a pair of foes in three-setters.
DAY ONE RECAP
The Indiana University women's tennis began their second competition of the fall season on Friday, competing in day one of the KU Invitational. Overall, Indiana posted a 4-2 mark in both singles and doubles.
Junior Evgeniya Vertesheva was perfect on the day, going 3-0 with a singles victory and a pair of wins doubled up with freshman Kayla Fujimoto. Indiana's other two freshmen, Sophie Garre and Diana Kyllman were also victors on the singles court, each advancing to the semifinals of their respective flights.
Sophomore Leslie Hureau, ranked 93rd nationally, advanced to her flight semifinals as well, defeating Oklahoma's Tara Eckel in straight sets, 6-2, 7-5.
