    Hoosiers Finish Day Two At Georgia Tech Invitational

    Atlanta, GA-The Hoosiers finished day two of the Georgia Tech Invitational with singles and doubles action. The tournament which takes place in Atlanta, Georgia, involves four singles and two doubles flights. Indiana players are competing against opponents from Iowa, Baylor, Mississippi State, North Carolina State, Rice, Georgia and Georgia Tech. The Hoosiers played better in both singles and doubles action then they did yesterday.

    In singles action, Junior Zahra Ahamed and sophomore Kelly Blanch played in the flight A singles bracket. Ahamed finished singles action this weekend with a loss to Karin Anderson of Baylor 6-3,2-6,6-4. Blanch also loss her match to Katia Kovic 6-3,6-3. In the flight B, junior Jessica Anderson and freshman Amanda Field each won their matches and will meet in tomorrow's ninth place game. Anderson defeated Baylor's Hortensia Hernandez 6-2,6-1. Field advanced by defeating Brie Glover 6-4,6-0. In flight C, sophomore Ana Ceretto advanced to the finals by defeating Kristen Nicholls 6-4,6-2. Freshman Karie Schlukebir, also playing in Flight C, defeated Ramsey Roberts 6-0,6-0 .The Hoosiers have three players in the flight D round robin play: senior Kelly Fitzgerald, sophomore Jennifer Hsia, and freshman Ann Poosuthasee. Poosuthasee defeated Georgia Tech's Sarah Wedgworth 6-3,6-1. Hsia defeated Kate Mason of North Carolina State 6-0,6-0. Fitzgerald lost her match to Jessica Landes of Iowa 6-3,1-6,7-6(4).

    In doubles action, Ahamed and Fitzgerald defeated Baylor's Hortensia Hernandez and Catherine Alain 8-4. They also played an extra match and was victories over Baylor's Baylor's Karin Anderson and Claudia Aguilar 8-5. Blanch and Schlukebir, playing in flight A, lost both of their matches today, first losing to Clemson's Kate-Maree Mair and Cecila Hincapie 8-6 then lost to Mississippi State's Elmear Sloan and Amelie Detriviere 8-4. In flight B, Anderson and Field defeated Rice's Erin Waters and Judith Hagedom 8-0 before losing to Georgia Tech's Mississippi State's Andrea Lord and Linda Mattson 8-6. Also in flight B, Ceretto and Hsia lost their first match to Iowa's Jessica Landes and Erica Johnson 8-6, then defeated Georgia Tech's Autumn Richards and Mason Miller 8-5.

    The Hoosier's continue play tomorrow from Atlanta, Georgia, with the final round of both the singles and doubles play.

    Coach Lin Loring, "The top of our lineup is still struggling. We are holding our own in the middle of the lineup, like we did on Friday. We still have a lot more work to do on our singles."
