    Hoosiers Finish Georgia Tech Invitational

    Atlanta, GA-The Hoosiers finished a disappointing weekend at the Georgia Tech Invitational today. The tournament which took place in Atlanta, Georgia, involved four singles and two doubles flights. Indiana players were competing against opponents from Iowa, Baylor, Mississippi State, North Carolina State, Rice, Georgia and Georgia Tech.

    In singles action the Hoosiers did have a winner in flight C. Sophomore Ana Ceretto defeated Mississippi State's Elmear Sloan 6-4,6-4 to win her first flight of the year. Also, in flight C, freshman Karie Schlukebir lost in the ninth-place game to Mississippi State's Andrea Lord 6-1,6-3. In flight D, freshman Ann Poosuthasee and sophomore Jennifer Hsia both won, to go undefeated in the tournament. Poosuthasee defeated Georgia Tech's Sarah Wedgworth 6-3,6-1. Hsia knocked off Iowa's Jessica Landes 3-6,6-4,7 6(5). In Flight A, Kelly Blanch lost to Iowa's Natalya Dawaf 6-1,6-1. The Hoosier's also played an abundance of extra singles matches today. Junior Jessica Anderson defeated North Carolina State's Francie Barragan 6-2,6-0. Senior Kelly Fitzgerald defeated Baylor's Lauren Kingsriter 6-3,7-6(2). Junior Zahra Ahamed lost to Katia Kovac of Baylor 6-2,6-1.

    In doubles action, Ahamed and Fitzgerald defeated North Carolina's Brie Glover and Francie Barragan 9-8(6), to come in ninth-palce in flight A. Blanch and Schlukebir, playing in flight A, bounced back from two losses yesterday to defeat Elle Lewis and Charlotte Feasby 8-5. In flight B, Anderson and Field finished in third-place after defeating Georgia Tech's Sarah Wedgworth and Tamarra Jenkin 8-2. Also in flight B, Ceretto and Hsia lost in the fifth-place match to Georgia Tech's Mason Miller and Autumn Richards 9-8(4).

    The Hoosiers are now off until they the weekend of November 5th. That weekend they will either be playing in the Hoosier Invitational or the ITA/Rolex Midwest Championships. The Hoosier Invitational will take place in Bloomington, Indiana and the ITA/Rolex Midwest Championships will take place in South Bend, Indiana.
