South Bend, Ind.-Junior Jessica Anderson bounced back from a loss yesterday, to win two matches today at the ITA Midwest Regional Championships. The championships, which are taking place at Notre Dame University in South Bend, Indiana, include top players from the region. Anderson, along with freshman Amanda Field, competed in consolation singles and doubles today.
In singles action, Anderson defeated Detroit's Maria Pandele 3-6,6-2,7-5, before knocking off Lisa Walgenbach of Purdue 3-6,6-2,6-3. She will play in quarterfinals action tomorrow against Cincinnati's Kara Molony. If she wins she will also play in the semifinal tomorrow. Field struggled today, losing to Iowa's Erica Johnson 6-0,6-0.
Anderson and Field won both doubles matches that they played today. They first defeated Emina Curic and Sara Jackson of Illinois-Chicago 8-0. They then went on to defeat Michigan State's Isabelle Oelze and Brooke West 8-2. Tomorrow they will play in quarterfinals action against Purdue's Erika Quebe and Shannon Taheny.
Action continues from South Bend, Indiana tomorrow, with action in both singles and doubles.
