Indiana Relays - Day Two Good For Hoosiers

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Hoosiers competed in the Indiana Relays on Saturday at Gladstein Fieldhouse in Bloomington. Saturday was the second day of the meet.
Indiana's women's team competed very well on day one of the meet, recording two career bests, five top-five finishes and three top-three finishes.
In the mile run invitational, Junior Caity Lauer recorded a career best time of 4:50.33 on her way to a second place finish. Lauer finished behind only IU assistant coach Rebecca Walter. Her time was an improvement of 11.70 seconds on her previous best of 5:02.03. Lauer's time moves her to within 2.03 seconds of the provisional qualifying time of 4:48.00.
Freshman Lindsey Hartman finished third in the finals of the 600m run. Her time of 1:35.36 was nearly a full second faster than the fourth place finisher.
In the pole vault invitational, sophomore Vera Neuenswander finished in third after tie-breakers divided up a four-way knot that included fellow Hoosier Stephanie Chin, who came in fifth. The two Hoosiers both cleared a height of 3.82m.
Junior Tiffany Howard finished fourth in the shot put finals with a toss of 13.90m. Howard moved up two spots after qualifying for the finals with the sixth best distance.
In the 3,000m run invitational, senior Maura Ratcliff posted a career best time of 10:16.63. Her time was 7.50 seconds faster than her previous career mark of 10:24.13.
The Hoosiers return to the track on Feb. 8-9 at the Mayo Invite in South Bend, Ind.
