Hoosiers Take Ninth at Big Ten Championships

Madison, Wis. - The Indiana women's track and field team earned 20 points en route to a ninth-place finish at the 2006 Big Ten Championship on Feb. 26 at Wisconsin's Camp Randall Memorial Sports Center. Of IU's three athletes who advanced to the finals of their respective events, the Hoosiers earned three top-ten finishes. Clausing led Indiana with a fourth-place finish in the 400m.
After advancing to the finals of the women's mile, Kelly Siefker finished with a ninth-place time of 5:02.63. In the trials and finals of the weight throw, Andrea Dalla Rosa hurled a 15.81m (51-10.5) en route to an 11th-place finish in the event.
In the finals of the 400m, Clausing took fourth, while Michele Huber finished in seventh place. Clausing crossed the line in 55.63 and Huber was clocked at 56.52.
In the high jump, Laura Oehlman and teammate Sarah Gilleran tied for 13th place, both posting 1.66m (5-5.25) jumps. Jean Schaffer finished in 19th place with a leap of 1.62m (5-3.75) in the event as well.
To round out the competition, the Hoosiers took sixth in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:47.50.
