BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Molly Beckwith took home three Big Ten medals on day two at the Big Ten Indoor Championships, leading the Hoosiers to a fourth-place finish, the best for IU since 2003. Beckwith took second in the 400-meters and the 600-meters and led the 4x400m relay team to third.

Juniors Kristen Ness, Kristen Crawford and Ashley Rhoades, sophomore Lindsey Hartman and seniors Tiffany Howard and Wendi Robinson joined Beckwith and her relay teammates, Ann-Marie Clarke, Audrey Smoot, and Kayla Smith, in scoring points for the team.

Beckwith saw eerily similar results in the 400m and 600m finals. She finished second in both events to runners from the opposite heat of the two heat finals. Beckwith recorded career bests in both events, finishing in 54.67 in the 400, less than a second out of first. In the 600m final, she was .18 seconds out of first with her IU record time of 1:27.96. She improved more than a full second on the IU record she set earlier this season. In the relay, Beckwith ran the fastest leg, leading the Hoosiers to the fourth-fastest time in IU lore. Just 1.5 seconds slower than the provisional qualifying mark, their time of 3:41.50 was more than a second faster than the quartet's season best.

In the weight throw, the Hoosiers put a up a solid showing. Ness took fourth with a heave of 17.67m (57.11.75), Crawford placed fifth with a toss of 17.30m (56-9.25) and Howard was eighth with a mark of 16.66m (54-8). Crawford's throw moves her into fifth in the IU record books, Howard moves to ninth.

Rhoades was fourth in the high jump. Her clearance of 1.75m (56-9.25) put her in a four-way tie for third. She finished fourth after tiebreakers. Hartman took eighth in the 800m run, she finished in 2:11.53, a nearly three second improvement on her career best.

The Hoosiers return to action when they participate in a last chance qualifier. The Alex Wilson Invitational at Notre Dame will be on March 6 and 7. For complete coverage of IU track and field stay tuned to www.IUHoosiers.com.
