SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Indiana finished competition at the Alex Wilson Invitational on Saturday, and throwers Tiffany Howard and Ben Stephen competed at the Virginia Tech Last Chance meet. Performing well for Indiana were senior Wil Glover, who took second in the 60-meters and sophomore Andy Weatherford who finished within a second of the provisional mark in the mile.
Glover recorded a time of 6.84 and finished just .01 seconds out of first. The senior from Lawrence Central High School in Indianapolis took third at the Big Ten Championships last week, recording the fourth fastest time in IU history.
Weatherford shed nearly three seconds off of his career best in the mile. His time of 4:04.88 is just slower than the 4:04.00 provisional NCAA qualifying standard. His previous best in the event was 4:07.73.
In the triple jump, freshman Rex Parker took third. He leapt 14.35m (47-1), a ten centimeter improvement on his career best. Howard recorded a heave of 15.21m (49-11) in the shot put. She finished seventh in an impressive field. The senior out of North Central in Indianapolis won Big Ten title in the shot put last weekend. Stephen had a toss of 17.28m (56-8.5) also in the shot put. The freshman’s throw was good for eighth.
