March 15, 2008
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Juniors Molly Beckwith and Wendi Robinson competed in the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday. Beckwith finished 15th in the 800m, and Robinson finished 14th in the 5,000m.
Beckwith finished in 2:12.29, nearly a full second ahead of Clarrisse Moh, the runner that finished 16th. This was Beckwith's first appearance at the NCAA Championships. Beckwith set the IU record in the 800m last weekend at the Alex Wilson Invitational with a time of 2:06.67.
Robinson finished in 16:39.86. Her time was 1.6 seconds faster than the 15th place finisher and more than 14 seconds faster than the 16th place finisher. This was Robinson's first appearance at the NCAA Championships as well.
The two juniors are both in just their second season of eligibility for indoor track and field, meaning that they are eligible to compete for two additional seasons.
The championships continue on Saturday beginning at 11 a.m. Freshman Stephanie Chin will be competing in the pole vault for the Hoosiers. Her event is slated to begin at 5 p.m.
