    Sea Ray Relays - Sherrill, Stechschulte Post Regional Qualifying Marks

    Results

    KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The Hoosiers competed at the Sea Ray Relays in on Saturday. Hoosier men and women competed in 22 different events on the day, and a total of 34 athletes competed in cream and crimson on the day.

    The women recorded two regional qualifying marks on the day. Sophomore Faith Sherrill and senior Abbie Stechschulte posted the qualifying marks for the Hoosiers.

    Sherrill posted a career best in the shot put. Her mark of 14.65m (48-0 3/4) is 35 centimeters better than the regional standard. Sherrill improved her previous outdoor best (13.66m) by 99 centimeters. Sherrill had the eighth-best mark for a collegiate in the event.

    Stechschulte had a leap of 6.03m (19-9 1/4) in the long jump. Her mark is six centimeters better than the regional qualifying standard. Stechschulte finished seventh overall and was just 15 centimeters out of fourth place. Stechschulte finished just ten centimeters shy of her career best in the event is 6.13m (20-1 1/2).

    In the 4x800m relay, juniors Molly Beckwith, Caity Lauer and Audrey Smoot teamed up with Lindsey Hartman to take second place. They recorded a time of 9:00.72 and finished nearly six seconds ahead of the third-place team.

    Beckwith and Lauer also ran 800m on their own. Beckwith recorded a career best of 2:10.21, which was good for fifth place. She cut nearly four full seconds off of her previous outdoor best. Lauer finished in sixth place, recording a time of 2:10.61.

    Junior Kristina Trcka finished third in the 10,000m run. Her time of 38:45.91 is a career best and was more than 20 seconds ahead of the fourth-place finisher.

     

     

    Senior Maura Ratcliff recorded a career best in the 1,500m run. She finished in 4:50.38.

    The Hoosiers return to action on the weekend of April 17-20, as they host the Indiana Invitational and compete at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif. For all things IU Track & Field stay tuned to IUHOOSIERS.com.
