April 14, 2007
COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Indiana track and field teams successfully wrapped up competition with seven first place finishes on a cold and rainy day at the Tom Botts Invitational, hosted by the University of Missouri at the Audrey J. Walton Stadium in Columbia, on Saturday, April 14. After a brief weather delay, the Hoosiers, along with the host Tigers and Purdue began competition.
Senior Zakiya Robinson won the 100-meter dash in a time of 12.28. Classmate Stacey Clausing saw time on top of the awards stand with a pair of first-place finishes. Clausing won the 200-meter dash in 24.56 and then claimed the 400-meter title with a time of 57.14. Senior Courtney Johnson reached the regional qualifying standard in the 100-meter hurdles for a second time this season with a time of 13.89. Junior Laura Oehlman finished first in the high jump with a clearance of 1.63 meters, while both the 4x100-meter and 4x400-meter relay teams placed first with times of 47.06 and 3:53.86, respectively.
"We came out of the meet pretty well considering the weather and the rain delay," IU interim head women's track and field coach Judy Wilson said. "We got some fairly good marks. It was a small, competitive meet and I thought it was good to come out and make this trip for the athletes who will qualify for the regional meet that will be in May."
Senior Lorian Price placed second in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.01. Freshman Vera Neuenswander also finished second when she cleared 3.65 meters in the pole vault. Junior Kyndal Carr clocked a time of 12.71. Senior Michele Huber also placed third in the 400-meter dash in 59.38.
