Six Hoosiers Earn Regional Qualifying Marks to Open Sea Ray Relays

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Six Hoosiers met regional qualifying marks in the opening day of competition at the Sea Ray Relays at the Tom Black Track in Knoxville, Tenn., on April 14. Ara Towns (100m), Lorian Price (100m hurdles), David Neville (400m), Kyle Jenkins (triple jump), Jeff Coover (pole vault) and Ryan Ketchum (discuss) are one step closer to the NCAA Championships, while seven Hoosiers recorded personal bests.
In the 100m, Towns turned in a regional-qualifying time of 11.50 en route to a sixth-place finish. Zakiya Robinson finished in 40th place with a personal-best time of 12.18.
Price stamped her ticket to the regional meet in the 100m hurdles. She crossed the line in 13.83 for seventh place.
At the Mt. Sac Relays, Jessica Gall turned in the school's fourth-fastest time in the 10k with a personal best and ninth-place finish of 34:32.36.
On the men's side, Neville took runner up in the 400m with a regional-qualifying time of 45.75. Paulie Cruickshank turned in a personal best in the 400m hurdles with a 30th-place time of 54.64, while teammate Ryan Smith finished just behind him in 32nd place at 54.93.
Jenkins' leap of 15.55m (51-00.25) in the triple jump met the regional standard and marked a new personal best.
Coover cleared a personal best and a regional qualifying mark of 5.05m (16-06.75) en route to a fourth-place finish in the pole vault. Blayne Burkholder cleared a personal best 4.90m (16-00.75) to take eight place.
Ketchum earned his second regional qualifying mark this season in the discus with a hurl of 54.33m (178-03) to finish in third place.
At the Mt. Sac Relays in Walnut, Calif., Jessica Gall took ninth place with a personal-best time of 34:32.36 in the grueling 10,000m.
