Hoosiers Close Sea Ray Relays with Seven More Regional Qualifications

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Seven Indiana men's and women's track and field athletes earned a regional qualifying mark in the closing sessions of the Sea Ray Relays on April 16 at Tom Black Track in Knoxville, Tenn. In addition to the six regional qualifiers, the Hoosiers turned in a pair of personal-best performances and an impressive eight top-10 finishes.
On the women's side, Candace Perry earned a regional-qualifying mark with a fifth-place and personal-best jump of 6.09m (19-11.75) in the long jump. Larra Overton stamped her ticket back to Knoxville with a regional qualifying mark in the 1,500m. Overton turned in an eighth-place time of 4:27.22.
Stephanie Greer earned a regional-qualifying mark in the 3,000m steplechase with a sixth-place time of 10:49.49.
The Indiana women's distance medley relay team finished in sixth place, crossing the line in 11:50.15. The 4x100m relay team claimed 21st place with a time of 47.59, while the 4x400m team came in 23rd with a mark of 3:49.76.
The Hoosier men had another successful day, picking up four regional-qualifying marks. Stephanos Ioannou took 10th in the 110m hurdles with a time of 13.97. Additionally, Ioannou's time marked a personal best for him in the event.
David Neville earned his second regional-qualifying mark in the 200m with a sixth-best time of 20.91.
In the field, Wil Fleming recorded his second regional-qualifying mark in the hammer throw with a hurl of 62.20m (204-01) en route to a fifth-place finish.
Ryan Ketchum earned his second regional-qualifying mark in as many days with a third-place finish in the shot put with a throw of 17.97m (58-11.50).
The Hoosiers return to action on April 27-29 at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pa.
