DES MOINES, Iowa - The Hoosiers had a solid day of competition at the Drake Relays on Friday. Leading the way for the Hoosiers was junior Molly Beckwith, who took second in the 800-meters. The Hoosiers got three more top-ten performances, from senior Tiffany Howard, junior Ashley Rhoades and sophomore Kristen Crawford.
Beckwith finished behind only Laura Hermanson of North Dakota St. in the 800m. The Worthington, Ohio, native finished in 2:10.36. Beckwith's season best is the among the nation's top-five times.
Rhoades was sixth in the high jump, clearing 1.70m (5-7). Her clearance put her in a four-way tie for fifth, and she finished in sixth after tiebreakers. Rhoades' season best mark of 1.81m is the second best in the Big Ten this season.
Howard and Crawford finished eighth and 10th respectively in the shot put. Howard had a toss of 15.02m (49-3.5) and Crawford heaved 14.89m (48-10.25). Both Hoosiers have marks among the Big Ten's ten best this season.
The Drake Relays continue on Saturday, April 25, and the Hoosiers will also be competing at the Stan Lyons Invitational in Indianapolis on Saturday. For complete coverage of all things IU track, stay tuned to IUHoosiers.com.
