DES MOINES, Iowa - Senior Lindsay Hattendorf clocked a personal-best time of 16:39.92 in the 5,000-meter run in the 98th running of the Drake Relays at Drake Stadium on Thursday, April 26, in Des Moines, Iowa. Hattendorf's time qualifies her for the NCAA Mideast Regional meet on May 25-26, in Columbia, Mo.

"We have another one on the bus for the regional meet," IU interim head women's track and field coach Judy Wilson said. "The race started out a little slow but Lindsay did a good job and her time was good enough for a regional qualifier. After coming off a week lay-off after Stanford, we were just trying to get her in a rhythm again. This was a good indication of her having the ability to run a 16:20 by the time we hit the regional meet."

Sophomore Courtney Freiberger started things off for the Hoosiers, as she was IU's lone representative in the heptathlon. She ended the two-day event with a final score of 4,237 points for 11th place in her first heptathlon of the season. Freiberger's highest finish was third place in the 800-meter run as she clocked a time of 2:20.48 for a new personal best. She also posted personal bests in the 100-meter hurdles (15.92), high jump (1.44 meters), shot put (8.87 meters), 200-meter dash (27.21) and in the long jump (4.69 meters).

Hattendorf's time placed her 10th among the 5,000-meter field. Senior Kristin Whitezell also competed for the Hoosiers in the 5K and ran a time of 17:57.52 for 28th place.

The Hoosiers get back into action tomorrow as the women's 4x100-meter relay team is set to compete at 10:32 a.m. ET, while the men's team follows at 10:48 a.m.
