Hoosiers Wrap Up Competition at NCAA Mideast Regional

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Indiana track and field team wrapped up competition at the 2007 NCAA Mideast Regional Championships, hosted by the University of Missouri in Columbia on Saturday, May 26.
The men's 4x100-meter relay team, made up of junior Marcus Thigpen, senior Kiwan Lawson and juniors Keith Heerdegen and Jacob Moylan, placed fifth in the finals with a time of 40.16. The women's 4x100-meter relay team, made up of junior Zakiya Robinon, seniors Lorian Price and Stacey Clausing and junior Kyndal Carr, finished seventh with a time of 46.04.
Price also competed in the finals of the 100-meter hurdles where she clocked a time of 13.42 to finish eighth. Her time was the fourth fastest 100-meter hurdle time in IU history and is a new personal best.
Freshman Vera Neuenswander placed ninth in the pole vault after clearing 3.81 meters in her first attempt.
With her overall national ranking of eighth (4.12 meters, 5/4) in the pole vault, Neuenswander is a probable at-large selection for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Sacramento, Calif., on June 6-9. The Hoosiers also have a number of other student-athletes that may earn at-large bids. The NCAA will announce final selection on Tuesday, May 29, at 3 p.m. ET on ncaasports.com.
Sophomore Blayne Burkholder earned an automatic bid to nationals on Friday, May 25, after he cleared 5.06 meters in the pole vault.
