Johnson Improves PR, Earns Trip to 100-Meter Hurdles Finals at 2008 NCAA Mideast Region Championships

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Senior Courtney Johnson led the way for the Indiana women's track and field team as the Hoosiers competed in day one of the 2008 NCAA Mideast Region Championships at the John McDonnell Field in Fayetteville, Ark.
Johnson clocked a new personal-best and improved her second-best mark in IU history when she crossed the finish line in 13.12 to qualify for the final. She placed second her hear and seventh overall. Her time currently is the 13th fastest in the nation.
Sophomore Vera Neuenswander placed eighth in the pole vault with a mark of 4.06 meters.
Indiana gets underway on Saturday as sophomore Ashley Rhoades will compete in the high jump at 12 p.m. CT. Johnson opens up action on the track with the finals of the 100-meter hurdles at 5:45 p.m.
