    Vaulters Make Finals After First Day of NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships

    SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Freshman Vera Neuenswander and sophomore Blayne Burkholder each qualified for the finals of the pole vault on the first day of the 2007 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, at Hornet Stadium in Sacramento, Calif., on Wednesday, June 6.

    Neuenswander cleared 4.00 meters in her third attempt to earn a spot in Friday's pole vault finals. She opened the vault at 3.75 and cleared 3.90 before reaching 4.00 meters.

    Burkholder cleared 5.15 meters to earn a trip to the pole vault finals. He cleared 5.00 meters in this first attempt before reaching 5.15.

    Senior Lorian Price earned a spot in the semi finals of the 100-meter hurdles after she placed sixth in her heat and 15th overall with a time of 13.34, which is the second-fastest time in school history. She finished 17th overall with a final time of 13.59.

    Senior Jessica Gall is set for the 10,000-meter run on Thursday, June 7, at 11:40 p.m. ET. The men's and women's pole vault finals will take place at 9:15 p.m. on Friday at Hornet Stadium.
