Trio of Hoosiers Compete On Day One of USATF Championships
June 26, 2009
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Molly Beckwith, Ashley Rhoades and Wendi Robinson were all in action on Thursday at the United States Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Ore. Beckwith came away with the best performace, garnering a ninth place finish in the first round of the 800 meters.
Molly Beckwith, a rising redshirt senior, ran in the first round of the 800 meters and qualified for the semi-finals with a time of 2:05.88, the ninth-best time in the event. The time also ranks as the fifth-best all-time at IU but is not the best of Beckwith's career, as she ran the 800 in 2:01.51 at the Bill Hayes Invite earlier this season.
Rising senior Ashley Rhoades took part in the high jump finals on Thursday. Rhoades failed to make the opening height of 1.78 meters, which would have been her career-best. She recently cleared 1.77 meters at the NCAA Outdoor Championships to finish in 13th place.
Wendi Robinson was slated to run the 10,000 meters on Friday in Eugene, but was unable to finish the race.
