    WOMEN DROP A CLOSE ONE TO THE BUCKEYES

    Columbus, Ohio- The Indiana Hoosiers Track and Field team traveled to take on the Ohio State Buckeyes and returned with mixed results. The men's team defeated the Buckeyes for the second straight year by a score of 76-72. The women's team dropped a close one by the score of 76-64.

    "Kurt Krick and Zach Fleming turned in outstanding performances for us this afternoon in the shot put," stated IU men's coach Sam Bell. "It was also great to see Russell Brooks take the 55-meter and the 200-meter for the second straight meet and Jennifer Brown set a new personal record in the shot put."

    Indiana received exceptional performances throughout the course of the day. Capturing first and second in the 800-meter were Mikko Simos (1:57.43) and Bosco Sitati (1:58.55), Jeremy Rochford (2.09m) and Ben Pister (2.04m) in the high jump, Kurt Krick (18.67m) and Zach Fleming (17.93m) in the shot put, Kelli O'Conner (10:43.30) and Amber Macy (10:47.48) in the 3,000-Meter run, and LaToya Turner (:08.05) and Kendal Willis (:08.21) in the 55-meter low hurdles. Other Hoosiers finishing first included: Ty Yeager in the 55-meter Hurdles (:07.53), Scott Johnson in the Pole Vault (4.72m), Lorriane Dunlop in the 55-meter (:07.09), Hilary Bruening in the 800-meter run (2:17.14), and Nathalie Belfort in the high jump (1.74m).

    The Hoosiers will return home for their next meet on Friday, January 30th, as they play host to the University of Notre Dame and the University of Tennessee. The meet is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Harry Gladstein Fieldhouse.
