BACK IN ACTION
The fifth and final home indoor event of the year will take place on Friday, Feb. 18, as the Indiana men's and women's track and field team host the Hoosier Hills Invitational. Events will begin at 4 p.m. inside the Harry Gladstein Fieldhouse.
Bellermine, Butler, Florida (women throwers), Franklin, Indianapolis, Indiana State, Kentucky State, Lindsay Wilson College, Louisville, Miami and Montana State (throwers) will all make the trip to Bloomington. The meet will also feature several unattached competitors.
GALL RANKED NO. 5 IN THE 5000M
Junior Jessica Gall is ranked fifth in the women's 5000m in the latest Trackwire Dandy Dozen power rankings. She earned her first NCAA automatic qualifying time of the indoor season with a personal-best run of 16:03.47 in the 5000m at the Husky Classic, capturing fourth place. The time surpassed the NCAA automatic standard of 16:10.00.
GALL JUST MISSES SCHOOL RECORD
Junior Jessica Gall's run of 16:03.47 in the 5000m at the Husky Classic, ranks second in school history behind only two-time All-American Michelle Dekkers, who holds the school mark with a time of 15:57.1 at the TAC Championships in 1989.
BIG TENs AT PURDUE, MICHIGAN
The men's Big Ten Championships will be held nearby at rival Purdue, while the women will travel to Michigan. Both events will take place on Feb. 26-27. The men have won 15 Big Ten titles, the last coming in 1992. The women have secured three Big Ten Championships, coming in 1988, 1991 and 2000.
