BOSTON, Mass. - Seven former and current Hoosiers competed at the USA Indoor Championships this weekend. Rachelle Boone-Smith recorded the best finish of the athletes with IU ties as she took third in the 60-meter dash. She was just .01 out of second place. Boone-Smith won 11 Big Ten titles at Indiana and was a 12-time All-American while donning the cream and crimson.
Also competing were current IU athletes Kiwan Lawson and Faith Sherrill, both of whom are redshirting during the indoor season. Sherrill was 6th in the shot put, recording a mark of 15.50m (50-10.25), and Lawson was seventh in the long jump, leaping 7.08m (23-2.75).
Current Indiana volunteer assistant coaches Tomika Ferguson, Lorian Price and Stacey Clausing also competed. Ferguson took sixth in the triple jump (12.97m (42-6.75)) and Price was seventh in the 60m hurdles (8.51 seconds) and eleventh in the long jump (5.77m (18.11.25)). Clausing finished eighth in the 400-meters (54.84).
Former IU standout Stephen Haas took seventh in the 1,500m run. He finished in 8:02.11. Haas was an indoor and outdoor All-American for Indiana in 2005.
