    TWO HOOSIERS QUALIFY FOR NCAA INDOOR TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS

    Upcoming Meet Information: Freshman Krista Keir and sophomore Jennifer Brown will compete in the shot put at the NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships at the RCA Dome in Indianapolis March 5-6.

    Results...will be available on the web at www.ncaachampionships.com.

    Event Schedule: The women's shot put begins at 6:10 p.m. Saturday March 6.

    Current Rankings: Brown is ranked sixth nationally with a throw of 16.07m and Keir is 15th at 15.41m.

    Head Coach Randy Heisler... is in his first year as the Indiana head coach.

    Last Meet: Five Indiana University track and field athletes have qualified for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships next weekend at the RCA Dome in Indianapolis. Sophomore Jennifer Brown (Ogden, Ill./St. Joseph-Ogden) and freshman Krista Keir (Westerville, Ohio/South) will represent IU in the shot put. Brown comes in with the sixth-best mark in the nation at 16.07m, while Keir's mark of 15.41m ranks 15th.

    Next Meet: The Hoosiers begin the outdoor season at the Baldy Castillo Invitational March 26-27 in Tempe, Arizona.

    Raising The Bar: Junior Cori McLeod set a personal best and reset the school record three times this year. The last improvement was 3.45m (11-3 3/4) vs. Purdue.

    The Three Throwers: The Hoosiers are dominant in the shot put. Sophomore Jennifer Brown is eighth in the NCAA at 15.60m (51-2 1/4), freshman Krista Keir is 11th nationally with a mark of 15.41m (50-6 3/4), and freshman Heather Colyer is 15th nationally with a mark of 15.26m (50-0 3/4).

    Looking Through the IU Record Book: Several Hoosiers have moved into the top-five in the IU record book this year. Freshman Tia Trent recorded the fourth best time in school history in the 600m at the Indiana Invitational (1:33.61). The pole vault has the most new members: junior Cori McLeod, first (3.45m; 11-3 3/4); junior Angela McGregor, second (3.20m; 10-6); freshman Melissa Banton, third (2.91m; 9-6 1/2); and Jaclyn Repay, fifth (2.45m; 8-0 1/2). The weight throw also has a lot of new company: sophomore Jennifer Brown, first (18.01m; 59-1 1/4); freshman Krista Keir, second (16.84m; 55-3); freshman Heather Colyer; third (16.79m, 55-1) and junior Sara Fedor, fifth (16.00m; 52-6). Brown has also moved into second on the shot put list with a mark of 16.07m (52-8 3/4) at the Indiana USATF Championships. Sophomore Maria Fleischmann is the new triple jump record holder at 12.45m (40-10 1/4). Sophomore Lorraine Dunlop has moved into the top spot in the 60m at 7.48 and third in the 200m at 24.64. Freshman Jenna Lock is fifth on the 600m lis with a time of 1:33.97, and the 60m hurdles has two new members, with junior LaToya Turner holding the IU record at 8.52 and sophomore Kendal Willis in third at 8.70.

    Instant Impact: Freshmen Krista Keir and Heather Colyer have both made NCAA provisional marks in the shot put and are ranked 11th and 15th nationally, respectively.

    Melissa Banton: Pole Vault - finished sixth at the Big Ten Indoor Championships by going over 2.91m (9-6 1/2).

    Jennifer Brown: 20 lb. wt. throw - third at the Big Ten Indoor Championships with a throw of 17.37m (57-0)...won the Indiana Invitational by reaching 17.89m (58-8 1/2)...set the meet and school record at Notre Dame by throwing the weight 18.01m (59-1 1/4) to provisionally qualify for the NCAA championships...won the event against Ohio State (17.56m; 57-7 1/2)...out-threw everyone with a mark of 16.89m (55-5) at the Michigan Quadrangular.

    Shot put - threw a personal best 16.70m (52-8 3/4) to move into second on IU's all-time list and win at the Indiana USA Track & Field Championships...second at the Big Ten Indoor Championships with a mark of 15.60m (51-2 1/4)...launched a season-best 15.32m (50-3 1/4) to finish second at the Indiana Invitational and reach the NCAA provisional mark...threw the shot 14.85m (48-8 3/4) to win at Notre Dame.

    Tarviant Campbell: 400m - ran a season best 56.41 to finish fourth at the Big Ten Indoor Championships.

    600m - outpaced everyone with a 1:35.80 at Notre Dame.

    Heather Colyer: 20 lb. wt. throw - fifth at the Big Ten Indoor Championships with a mark of 16.84m (55-3).

    Shot put - recorded a throw of 15.26m (50-0 3/4) to finish third at the Big Ten Indoor Championships...won the Purdue meet with a personal best and NCAA provisional mark of 15.24m (50-0).

    Kim Craig: 800m - won her second consecutive race by recording a time of

    2:16.69...ran a 2:13.93 to claim the win at the Indiana Invite.

    Lorraine Dunlop: 60m - won at the Indiana USA Track & Field Championships with a time of 7.54...ran a 7.50 to finish third at the Big Ten Indoor Championships...took the Purdue meet by recording a 7.52...won the Indiana Invitational in 7.59...cruised to victory at Notre Dame in 7.61...captured the race in 7.50 against Ohio State...ran the 60m in 7.58 to win the Michigan Quadrangular.

    200m - fifth at the Big Ten Indoor Championships with a time of 24.85...ran a 24.98 to win the Indiana Invitational...first at the Michigan Quadrangular in 24.87.

    Maria Fleischmann: Triple jump - won the triple jump with a school record 12.45m (40-10 1/4) at the Indiana USA Track & Field Championships...reached a personal best 12.41m (40-8 3/4) to finish third at the Big Ten Indoor Championships...won the event against Purdue by leaping 12.20m (40-0 1/2)...out-leapt the competition at the Indiana Invite by going 12.26m (40-2 3/4)...won at the Michigan Quadrangular by leaping 11.85m (38-10 1/2).

    Krista Keir: 20 lb. wt. throw - threw 16.79m (55-1) at the Big Ten Indoor Championships to place sixth.

    Shot put - fourth at the Big Ten Championships with a mark of 15.25m (50-0 1/2)...won the Indiana Invitational and reached the NCAA provisional mark with a personal best 15.41m (50-6 3/4)...set the meet record at 15.23m (49-11 3/4), improving her NCAA provisional mark...her throw of 14.91m (48-11) won the Michigan Quadrangular and was beyond the NCAA provisional qualifying mark.

    Traci Knudsen: Mile - won the Indiana USA Track & Field Championship in 5:05.50...ran a personal best 4:52.33 to win at the Purdue meet...first at the

    Ohio State meet with a time of 5:06.46.

    Jenna Lock: 600m - ran the third fastest time in IU history (1:33.97) to finish fifth at the Big Ten Indoor Championships...won her first race of the season at the Purdue meet in 1:34.74.

    Angela McGregor: Pole vault - won for the second this season time by clearing 3.20m (10-6) at Notre Dame...won the Ohio State meet by clearing 3.05m (10-0).

    Cori McLeod: Pole vault - cleared 3.36m (11-0 1/4) to finish third at the Big Ten Indoor Championships...set the school record and finished second by going over 3.45m (11-3 3/4) against Purdue.

    High Jump - cleared a personal best 1.67m (5-7) to place fourth at the Big Ten Indoor Championships.

    Tia Trent: 600m - outran everyone in the Ohio State meet by finishing in 1:33.61.

    LaToya Turner: 60m hurdles - ran an 8.56 to win the Indiana USA Track & Field Championship...finished third at the Big Ten Indoor Championships in 8.66...flew to victory in 8.53 at the Indiana Invitational...dominated at Notre Dame by finishing in 8.61...won at the Michigan Quadrangular with a time of 8.60.

    200m - ran a 24.80 to grab third at the Big Ten Indoor Championships.

    Rachelle Weiss: Triple jump - won at Notre Dame by going 10.85m (35-7 1/4).
