IU Runs Well in Final Day of Penn Relays
Philadelphia, Pa.-- In the final day of the 111th annual Penn Relays, junior Larra Overton ran an impressive race in the Olympic Development section of the mile. The New Albany, Ind., native finished in 4:48.99, which surpassed the regional qualifying mark in this event (4:49.60). Overton, the only collegian in the field, finished fifth overall.
In other action on Saturday, the women's 4x800m relay team consisting of junior Kelly Siefker, freshmen Lauren Keefe and Nikki Peterson and senior Ashley Groth finished second overall in their heat with a time of 9:02.35.
In addition, the 4x400m squad took an eighth-place finish as they crossed the finish line at 3:42.27, which barely missed the regional qualifying standard of 3:42.00.
