4x400m Meets Standard
BLOOMINGTON, Ind-- At the 27th annual Billy Hayes Invitational, the 4x400m relay squad of Michele Huber, LaDonna Ray, Charlene Maddox and Stacey Clausing put together a great performance to easily surpass the regional qualifying standard time (3:43.20) as they captured the event title in 3:39.76.
In addition, Clausing, who already qualified in the 400m earlier in the year, tacked on another regional qualifying and career-best time of 23.69 in the 200m en route to winning the event in a field of 37 athletes.
Women's distance runner Kelly Siefker turned in a second-place performance in the 1,500m, finishing with a time of 4:33.43. Ashley Groth (4:38.74) and Julie Shields (4:43.93) also competed in this event and finished sixth and eighth, respectively. Also in the distance events, Nikki Peterson and Lauren Keefe competed in the 800m and finished on each other's heels with times of 2:13.38 and 2:13.88.
Lorian Price turned in a solid performance in the long jump, taking a third-place finish with a jump of 5.74m (18-10).
The Hoosiers are back in action next weekend, May 13-15 when they take part in the 2005 Big Ten Men's and Women's Outdoor Track Championships. This year's championships will be held in Columbus, Ohio on the campus of Ohio State.
